Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance

Striving for Zero Net Emissions by 2020

Who We Are Print

The Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance (CVGA) was initiated in 2000, when Terry White met with representatives of the North Central Catchment Authority, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and Latrobe University, Bendigo. We were the first greenhouse alliance organization to be established in the state.

Now, we are an incorporated association comprising 14 local governments, seven business, government and community organisations, and several working groups, covering 20 per cent of Victoria. We have no political affiliations.

CVGA members are committed to taking full responsibility for their contributions to climate change and to leading their communities by example.

Our goal is to rapidly transform our regional economies from climate-damaging to climate friendly, in a way that is simultaneously practical, profitable and transferable.

At the same time, the Alliance is moving the region towards a future based on renewable energy which will:

  • Boost regional economies and increase competitiveness
  • Improve communities' sustainability and provide new employment opportunities
  • Enhance the local environment
